Love Fallout 1 and 2 by Interplay/Black Isle Studio; 2 of the best RPGs of all time imho.

Fans of Fallout had huge expectations with Fallout 3 – unfortunately, Bethesda programming is amateur at best due to the numerous issues: unstable code, lots of game crashes, broken quests, etc.

I would not recommend buying this game – it’s generally very boring and never provides any “wow” moments – tonnes of exploring, but so little to find and no rewards.

I would recommend bargain bin purchase of Fallout 3 GOTY, under $20. Also bewarned, PS3 owners in Canada – your Fallout 3 original save games (I had over 150hrs invested in Fallout 3) will NOT work with F3 GOTY. Bethesda originally sold the US version of Fallout3 in Canada. Now, Bethesda is selling the English/French version of F3 GOTY in Canada…NOT compatible with each other. Bethesda has not provided any indication that they are even remotely looking at this issue – so beware of this F3 GOTY purchase for PS3 owners in Canada. Poor customer support = avoid Bethesda games in the future.

for the most part. I did what so many others did: Sell my older F3 and buy the new GOTY. First start up took a while to load as it added in the new DLCs. I have noticed on my PS3 80GB that the GOTY version freezes up MUCH more than the older version. Nothing that a hard-boot of the console doesn’t fix, but annoying to be sure.

If you haven’t played Fallout3, you are missing out. If you have, but not played the new content, its well worth the price of admission!

This is a very in-depth game with multitudes of quests to do, sights to see, and bad guys to kill! I am not big on playing games with the First Person perspective generally, but with the addition of the VATS aiming system, targeting and firing at your enemies can be quite fun as they are done in a slow-motion cinematic mode. The world is very believable and expansive with the post-apocalyptic world of Washington DC done very well.

The story is pretty good and with the expansions added into this Game of the Year edition and make it a must buy over the regular edition. I spent over 125 hours playing this game to completion and exploring it all and had fun the whole time. It was easily worth the full retail price and is even more so at a used price.

I have been really looking forward to this release. Besides the main story line, which I thought was terrific, I enjoyed roaming the wasteland and checking out new locations even more. I can’t do this any more since it crashes so often (as in every 100 yards or so). I have obviously only had this game today, but from what I can tell, it is totally unplayable. The freezing was a major pain in the first release, but this is outrageous and I am shocked that any company would have the stones to release something of this quality.

Bethesda people! Listen to us or we will never buy another one of your games, EVER! Fix this freezing/glitch problem. Anyone who has paid the $60 for the first one, and then another $60 for this one should get a patched version that actually works sent to us for free.

This would probably have been an excellent extension to an excellent game. Epic fail. Don’t pay money for this, it simply doesn’t work.

I would imagine some class-action thing should happen here soon, since most people don’t like to find that a product which doesn’t work cannot be returned for one that works, since that doesn’t exist. I’m going to try anyway.

I was really nervous about buying this game because of all the bad reviews saying how the PS3 version was so buggy it was unplayable. Well I have not had any problems whatsoever and I absolutely love this game. It is definitely a game of the year game that is for sure. I did erase all my old data from the original Fallout 3 and created a brand new file for the GOTY edition so maybe thats why I haven’t had any problems I don’t know. Anyway this game has huge replay value and is a great game to own not rent. Zero buyers remorse for me so there you go.
