I got this game for my daughter for Christmas. She was excited to get it but when we plugged it in, it wouldn’t sync with the PS3. This is the second Christmas in a row that I have bought an activision product that didn’t work and needed to be RMA’ed. And both times support was horrible.
I went onto the support site listed on the instructions. The support site was somewhat confusing. It wanted me to identify which part was broken. How do I know which part was broken? I picked the part I thought might be the problem and then it asked me which problem I was having. It then told me I needed to replace a different part and instructed me to click continue to order that part. The summary then listed the original part I had picked, so then I was really confused. I later called support, which is extremely hard to do because they work West Coast hours and don’t work on any holidays. The guy told me I ordered the wrong part and that I should have used common sense to know which part was broken. I told him I was not the game’s creator so how was I supposed to know and he continued to insist I should have known. I almost lost it when he said this, but I was at work so I just let it be. I got home from work that day and the new piece was in the mail. It turns out the piece I thought was broken actually fixed it (the USB dongle). So in the end, their web site told me the wrong piece was broken and so did the guy on the phone.
Anyway, if you buy it you are taking a chance on if it will work the first time. If it doesn’t, have fun with their support. My daughter loves the game, but she had to wait over a week to play it. I don’t think I will be buying anything from activision again.

I really enjoyed this game. I enjoyed mixing different genre’s of music together to create a new sound.

DJ Hero is as good, if not better than, guitar hero 5. It takes a while to learn, but once you hit expert, it’s incredibly fun and fast-paced.
Also, there wasn’t a lot of packaging that came with it, really only the main box inside of an amazon box.

This game has some very craftily remixed and mash-up songs that will delight any dance music lover.
The gameplay is very challenging even for an expert turntablist. Medium difficulty shouldn’t challenge anyone who is an actual dj, but that’s where the ease stops.
Once you get used to how to depress the 3 buttons on the vinyl while “scratching” the fun begins. I only wish the platter was 12″ as it would give it a better “feel” to the real thing, but understanding that it’s just a controller I got over it. Being able to switch over to lefty mode is a nice feature as well to give yourself some “timing” practice with the other hand.
I don’t have a whole lot else to say about the game, but I highly recommend it if you love all the other rhythm games and you like the added sound of some expertly placed scratches in the music.
Enjoy!

This is an excellent game! First and foremost the mixes in the game are awesome, and there are plenty of songs to choose from. I am sure there will be even more with DLC. I also like the variety and the blend of old and newer generation of songs.
The controller itself is very nice. The surface does feel like vinyl and spins nicely. I feel that it will hold up nicely as long as you don’t abuse it. The slider is the only things that concerns me a bit. It feels like that could break over time if playing on a harder level and someone frantically tries to slap it around. Overall the controller seems built strong enough to last for a while.
The in game controls are excellent with, the exception of the slider. It is sometimes hard to accurately move this to the correct spot. This might just be that I am new to the game though. I also find that after a while it is easy for your fingers to slip on the buttons. I am right handed and sometimes scratching with the blue button is a little difficult. Otherwise controls are excellent.
I like the many difficulty levels of the game. This allows anyone to try it out. At the easiest level you basically just have to scratch at the right time. There isn’t a slider function. It doesn’t matter what buttons are pressed. I have been playing on medium and it has been enjoyable. At medium difficulty you have to press the correct buttons, but you can scratch back and forth in any direction. At hard difficulty and up you have to scratch in a particular direction and simultaneous buttons are introduced. I haven’t tried Expert yet, but I am sure it is challenging.
Overall, this is an excellent game. In my opinion, it is more enjoyable than Guitar Hero. There will be some who will criticize this game because it isn’t completely true to life, but that is true for Guitar Hero and other games as well. I think the game does a good job of incorporating the basic concepts of mixing. I’m not a DJ, but this game got me interested enough that I went out and purchased a beginners book on the subject. I think this game will be very popular and generate a lot of interest in DJ’ing professionally or just as a hobby.
