My mom got this game for me. I liked it except for my mom said it will rot my brains. I said she’s an old hag with ugly feet. Because this game is a best seller in most places, ok? It’s funny when you do badly on it and give everyone the farts! When you do good everyone is happy! I wish there were some guns in it though because the girl is annyoing and I wish she could be died!

I bought this game since it had good reviews especially for kids. I’m a kid at heart so thought I would enjoy it. I was wrong. The graphics are fine, lots of recipes to make with new recipes added as you succesfully complete recipes. Your “cooking” consists of using the stylus to touch, tap, slide, and swirl on the touch screen. It gets very repetitive and mundane. I did like the variety of menu items, including miso soup, neopolitan spaghetti, and fried octopus dumplings (or something close to that). Young kids may love it, for the ease and lack of high brain activity required. But if you are a teenager and above who enjoys childish things but wants a bit of a challenge or goal to work towards other than 60 more recipes, avoid this game.

I love to watch to food network, so I thought this game would be a fun way to bring that to the ds. What I found was that although my screen was clean, and I was using an almost new stylus, the ds had a hard time registering when I would peel the carrots or potatoes. It became more frustrating as I would try to do other things (trim the fat from meat, cut lines, whatever required an exact mark,)and it acted like the stylus wasn’t even being used. I had my husband try it, thinking maybe I was just the one with issues. He agreed that it was a bummer game. We finally resorted to just doing the practice sessions so that if it didn’t recognize the movement we could try it over…and over…and over without Mama flaming her eyes at us. Yes, she gives you a “burning eyes” glare when you mess up. I play a lot of video games, so I’m not some novice trying out my first touch screen. Maybe other people are having better experiences, but I can only give it a single star. I sure do hope that Cake Mania will be better. It’ll be a different kind of cooking game, but I’m sure it’ll be a whole lot more fun.
